What is a Vendor?

A vendor is a seller and manufacturer of a product.

What is an Affiliate?

An affiliate advertises a product created by a vendor and in return receives a portion of the revenue when a purchase is successfully referred.

Important: YOU are our Affiliate Partner and in most cases not the vendor!

If you get registered for free as an Affiliate, you can promote our products and get the commision.

You as an affiliate send so-called "promo links" to potential customers of a product. If they now successfully complete a purchase, you will be rewarded by the vendor of the product in the form of a commission.

As soon as you log in to Digistore24, you'll be directed to the backoffice. Here you can adjust all the settings for your business, manage your data and view your statistics.

To switch between the affiliate view and the vendor view, click on “View” in the black menu bar at the top of the page, and then select the view you want from the dropdown.

Digistore24-ID

Here you can access your personal account settings. Manage your account data such as your home address, your password or your tax number.

View

Here you can switch between the affiliate view and the vendor view – depending on whether you have registered as a vendor and affiliate or just as a vendor. If you are just registered as an affiliate, you can only select the affiliate view here.

If you are an affiliate on Digistore24 and would like to become a vendor later on, you can only do this by sending an email to our support: [email protected].

Here you will find the Digistore24 documentation, the help and information section where you currently are.

The main menu is directly under the header menu on the right-hand side. In the affiliate view you will see the menu items Dashboard, Marketplace, Account and Reports. The functions that are available here and the settings you can adjust are explained in detail in the following.

Dashboard

After you log in, you first land on your personal dashboard at Digistore24. Here we provide you with an overview of the current status of your business and display important key figures.

Please note that your dashboard will look different depending on whether you are in affiliate view or vendor view. In the affiliate view, there are the following key figures:

In addition to the key figures, Digistore24 provides various charts on your dashboard:

Sales chart

In your sales chart, your total new revenue as an affiliate is listed. If you are also active as a vendor, this is the sum of all commissions from your affiliate business and your vendor business (including initial sales, upsells, subscription and installment payments). You can switch between the month view (last 22 days), the weekly view (last 27 weeks) or the annual view by using the tabs. In addition, you can display your sales with a graph.

Payouts chart

You can find this chart under the sales chart. It will show you how much revenue you have generated so far and how much you could get paid on the next possible payout date. You can also switch between the list view and graphical view here.

Top 5 Vendors

This list shows you the five vendors with whose products you have earned the highest amount of commissions as an affiliate. This list includes the vendor’s name, the gross sales you’ve generated by advertising this vendor’s products (“gross amount”) and the cancellation rate.

The cancellation rate only applies to the gross sales generated by you as an affiliate. The gross sales show the gross revenue that the vendor has generated solely through you as an affiliate. This includes your commission, taxes, the Digistore24 margin and the vendor’s share. The gross sales displayed here do not include sales made by other affiliates who also advertise this product.

Top 5 products

This list shows you which of the products you advertise are the most successful shown as a comparison. You can identify the product here by the product name. In addition, you will see the gross sales (“gross amount”) and the cancellation rate of the respective product.

The cancellation rate and gross amount are calculated in the same way as with the top 5 vendors list.

Marketplace

Vendors offer their promotable products on the Digistore24 marketplace. As an affiliate, you can make choices based on product key figures and sign up for a partnership to receive the promo link. You can then use this promo link to promote the product.

Account

You can manage the following features of your Digistore24 account under the menu item Account:

Account > Details

Here you can edit personal data like your email address, your home address, your business tax ID and your password.

Account > Affiliations

Here you can see an overview of your affiliations with vendors and can search for different entries using the search box by typing specific key figures or key words.

Account > Content links

Here you can create content links if you have created your own content site for a specific product of a vendor – the content site is where you’d like to direct your visitors.

Each content link is assigned to a product you promote. This guarantees that a cookie is placed in the customer’s browser, which is valid for 180 days. If this visitor buys one of the vendor’s products within this period, the affiliate commission will be accredited to you. Here you can also view the promo links of all the products for which you have entered into an affiliate partnership, without having to get up the respective product.

Account > Payout account

Here you can add and edit your bank details, set a personal payout threshold, and set the desired payout currency and the payout frequency per month. Your payouts will always be paid to the bank account you’ve specified on here.

Account > Contracts

Here you can see your partnerships with other vendors (“joint ventures”). In the tab “Cross Upsells”, you will find an overview of the cross upsells you promote. In the last tab you will have the option to adjust the settings for the affiliate referral commission.

Reports

Right next to the Account settings you will find the menu item Reports, where you can find various figures and get an overview of your business.

Reports > Transactions

Here you can see all of your transactions. A transaction is a movement of money from one account to another. Transactions are not only revenue from customer sales, such as e.g. subscription or installment payments, single installments from installment purchases, or single purchase payments, but also include expenses in the form of refunds or return debit notes.

Reports > Purchases

Here you can see all the sales you have generated. A sale may contain multiple transactions e.g. for subscription payments. Using the search box, you can search for entries by using key figures or key words.

Reports > Your partner's sales

Here we give you an overview of all the sales of your joint venture and cross upsell partners for whom you’re an affiliate.

Reports > Vendor top list

Here you can see all the vendors with whom you’ve entered into an affiliate partnership. The vendors can be sorted by specific key figures.

Reports > Commissions

Here you can see an overview of all the commissions that you have received yourself as an affiliate from other vendors. No distinction is made between commissions that have just been assigned and those that have already been paid to a bank account.

Reports > Payouts

Here you can see an overview of all the sums of money which have already been transferred from your Digistore24 account to your bank account.

Reports > Analytics

This is where we provide a comprehensive overview of all your data as an affiliate. Use the search box to look for specific products. Please note that the table is very wide, so you will need to scroll to the right to be able to see further key figures.

At the beginning of your online career, you should first internalize how to earn money with Digistore24 and what you should pay attention to in order to advertise as efficiently as possible.

You can switch between Vendor View and Affiliate View in the top left corner. When you log in to Digistore24 for the first time, you will automatically be in the Vendor view.

An example of a sales process

1. An affiliate goes to the Digistore24 marketplace. There he finds all products created by vendors.
2. Now the affiliate finds a product he wants to promote and gets a so-called promolink.
3. The affiliate sends this promolink to many potential customers or builds it directly on his website or in his social media posts. His goal is to get customers to click on the link and buy the product. In which way he promotes the product (e.g. through social media campaigns, promotional emails, etc.) is irrelevant.
4. When a customer now clicks on this promo link, an HTTP cookie is stored in their browser. This allows you to track which affiliate the customer came through for up to 180 days. What is an HTTP cookie? A cookie is figuratively like a bookmark for internet browsers. A website can place a cookie in your browser and can identify you the next time you visit.
5. When the customer buys the product, Digistore24 registers the deposited HTTP cookie in his browser and can read out from which affiliate the product was advertised.
6. Digistore24 automatically sends the seller the money earned from the sale and deducts the affiliate commission from it, which is forwarded to the affiliate.

Vendors make their products available for marketing on the Digistore24 marketplace. You can then promote these products as an affiliate.

You can access the marketplace by clicking on the Affiliate view menu item Marketplace in the top right-hand corner.

Vendor's products are displayed on the marketplace as marketplace entries. When you open the marketplace, you will see a list of marketplace entries.

The marketplace offers you various functions that allow you to quickly find a suitable product to promote:

• You can filter the list of marketplace entries, e.g. by product categories or payment method.
• You can filter the list of marketplace entries, e.g. by "Earnings/sale".
• You can quickly locate marketplace entries by entering the name of a product or vendor in the search box.

You can view information for each marketplace entry that will help you choose a suitable product:

• Headline
• Product image
• Detailed view with product description and lots of key figures, e.g. "Net earnings/sale" or "Cart conversion".
• Links to the vendor's sales page and affiliate support page

Once you've found a suitable product to promote, you can click on the Promote now button to send a request to the vendor asking to begin an affiliate partnership. Once the partnership is formed, the Promote now button will be replaced by the Copy promolink button. This button will generate the promolink that you can use to promote the product.

As explained above, you can request the promolink by clicking on the Promote now button for the marketplace entry of your choice.

You'll usually get your promolink as soon as you click on that button. However, it may be that a vendor has specified that they want to accept affiliates manually before promoting their product.

The promolink always leads to the product's sales page. If a potential customer clicks on this promolink, a HTTP cookie is stored in their browser cache and is valid for 180 days.

The cookie can be deleted! It may happen that the customer clears their cache before making the purchase. If this happens, Digistore24 unfortunately cannot verify your referral.

Promolink explanation:

• AFFILIATE: Replace this with your own Digistore24 ID if the vendor hasn't already done this for you.
• PRODUCT-ID: The product ID of the product you want to promote will be automatically inserted by Digistore24.
• CAMPAIGNKEY: A campaign key is an optional addition to the link that helps you to distinguish different advertising campaigns (e.g. "Email", "Facebook" etc.). You can freely set this text. This will then be displayed to you under Reports > Transactions for a referred purchase.

The ID of the product you want to promote is "220831"

You create a campaign key "Product1"

1. In the affiliate view, go to Account > Content links.
2. Click on the button Show promolink.
3. Select a product in the For product field.

Now your promolink will be displayed.

Please do not use link shorteners (such as bit.ly or goo.gl) for your promolink. We cannot guarantee that affiliate tracking will work with a shortened promolink, because link shorteners transform the link. We ask you to only use the normal promolink.

In contrast to the promolink, the content link must be created by you. In addition, the content link does not lead to the sales page, but rather to a website of your choice. This is useful if you want to forward the customer to another page and not directly to the sales page, but still want a cookie to be placed in the user's cache.

An example of usage:

1. You send the potential customer to a webinar page via a content link. This is how a cookie is set in the visitor's browser.
2. The visitor receives a link after the webinar (e.g. by email). It is only with this link that the visitor will be taken to the vendor's sales page.
3. On the sales page, the customer then clicks on the link to the order form where they purchase the product. Even if the customer purchased the product indirectly, the customer is correctly assigned to you thanks to the cookie set at the beginning.

Content link explanation:

• "AFFILIATE": Replace this with your own Digistore24 ID if the vendor has not done this yet for you.
• "PRODUCT ID": The product ID of the product you want to advertise is automatically present in the link.
• "CONTENT LINK ID": The content link ID is inserted automatically by Digistore. You must not change it.
• "CAMPAIGN KEY": A campaign key is an optional add-on to the link. This helps you to distinguish between different advertising campaigns (e.g. "Email", "Facebook" etc.). You yourself can choose the text for this. This is then displayed under Reports > Transactions when you broker a sale.

Example: Your Digistore24 ID is "JohnSmith". The ID of the product you want to advertise is "220831". The ID of the content link is "20581". You create the campaign key "Product1". Your content link will therefore look like this: http://go.JohnSmith.220831.20581.digistore24.com/Product1 or with the HTTPS variant (recommended) https://www.digistore24.com/content/220831/20581/JohnSmith/Product1

1. In the affiliate view, go to Account > Content link.
2. Click on the button Create content link.
3. For Target URL, enter the URL of your content page/webinar page.
4. In the For product field, select the product for which you want to create the content link.
5. Finally, click on Save.

Your content link will now be displayed under Your promolink. Despite it saying Promolink, it is your content link, so please don't be confused!

Finally, go to Account > Content link and click on Request approval now. A content link is usually approved within 24 hours on weekdays (Monday to Friday). Unfortunately, no approval can be granted on weekends.

If you successfully encourage a potential customer to make a purchase, you will receive a percentage of the revenue set by the vendor after the payment is made.

This percentage is called "affiliate commission". You can find your commissions under Reports > Commissions.

Can the commission rates be changed?

Yes, the commission rates can be adjusted at any time by the academy provider both upwards and downwards. There is no legal claim to a permanent commission program.

Can the platform operator exclude me from the affiliate program?

Yes, the platform operator can stop the partner program at any time as well as remove individual persons from the program. This will primarily be done for persons who do not comply with legal regulations in advertising (spam mails etc.) or affiliate partners with above-average cancellation rates of their recruited customers.

Is spam advertising allowed?

Clear answer: NO!!!

We will delete any partner from our program who does not adhere to legal advertising rules.

How long is the cookie runtime?

Contrary to many other operators, who often only have 30, or 90 days cookie duration, you currently have 180 days with us and thus a clear advantage that commissions are still credited to you even by latecomers.

Do I get commission for all courses?

You will receive commissions for all courses that have been posted by the authors (Peter Ruebsamen). For courses in German as well as for courses offered in English.

Excluded are courses from external providers, to which we refer from our site and which we recommend in our own emails.
